Vehicles:ATVs, SxS, Dirt Bikes, 4x4

Five Mile Pass is the go-to starting point for most Utah Motorsports rental riders — and for good reason. Located just 30–40 minutes from Lehi, this sprawling BLM OHV area offers everything from beginner-friendly loops to challenging technical sections. It's open year-round, free to access, and large enough to explore for multiple full days.

Getting There

Take UT-73 west from Lehi toward Fairfield. Follow signs toward the Five Mile Pass OHV staging area. The main staging area is off Moto Mile Road.

GPS staging area: 40.153°N, 112.090°W. No fee required for day use. Camping is dispersed and free on BLM land.

Trail Overview

  • Hundreds of miles of interconnected trail
  • Beginner loops: Wide, smooth dirt roads with gentle terrain
  • Intermediate: Rolling hills, sandy washes, rocky patches
  • Advanced: Technical rock sections in the eastern areas
  • Multiple staging areas for trailers and groups

Best Sections

  • West staging area — great for beginners and family rides
  • Moto Mile — fast and fun hardpack road
  • Rock Hill area — technical climbing for advanced riders
  • Sand wash sections — great for UTVs and high-speed runs

Year-Round Riding

  • Spring: Dry earlier than any mountain trail, open by March
  • Summer: Hot but rideable early morning or evening
  • Fall: Best season — cool temps, dry trails, low crowds
  • Winter: Most years accessible when roads dry after storms

If you're a first-time renter, Five Mile Pass is always our first recommendation — it's hard to get lost and easy to have fun.
