Skyline Drive OHV Trail: Utah's Most Epic Ridgeline Ride

~115 miles from Lehi (~2 hours)
Difficulty:Intermediate
Vehicles:ATVs, SxS, 4x4

Skyline Drive is Utah's most dramatic ridgeline route — a high-altitude OHV road stretching over 100 miles along the crest of the Wasatch Plateau at elevations between 10,000 and 11,000 feet. Views stretch for 100+ miles in every direction. If you want the most scenic single-day OHV ride within 2 hours of Lehi, this is it.

Getting There

Access Skyline Drive from Price via UT-31 (Electric Lake area) or from the south via Ephraim Canyon. Most riders access the northern sections from Fairview Canyon Road (UT-31).

GPS northern access: 39.894°N, 111.308°W. Allow 2 hours from Lehi.

What to Expect

  • 100+ miles of ridgeline road — ride sections or the full route
  • Elevation: 10,000–11,000+ ft
  • Terrain: Wide, smooth-to-moderate dirt road
  • Views: Price, Castle Valley, Manti Valley, even beyond
  • Wildlife: Deer, elk, eagles common along the ridge

Top Stops Along Skyline Drive

  • Huntington Reservoir — alpine lake perfect for a lunch break
  • Dairy Fork — side trails into the forest
  • Miller Flat — wide open meadow riding
  • Potters Ponds — beautiful mountain pond with dispersed camping

The road is often drivable in a street-legal vehicle, but an ATV or SxS opens access to many side trails.

Best Season

  • July–September: Full access, wildflowers in July
  • Early October: Aspen color peaks along the plateau
  • Snow closes the upper road by late October
  • No access spring through late June — too much snow

Plan an early morning start — afternoon thunderstorms are common at this elevation.
